HVJTMS RULES AND REGULATIONS
A. Boys and girls ages 10 to 18 are eligible to play in the HVJTMS. Golfers must have knowledge and experience with golf. The HVJTMS is not an instructional league. Registration forms for the season require the signature of: (1) the junior golfer, (2) parent/guardian, and (3) a representative of the course (golf professional or adult representing club on the steering committee). Younger golfers who meet the qualifications set forth in these Rules and Regulations would be accepted at the discretion of the HVJTMS Committee. Anyone turning 19 before April 1st is not eligible to participate in the league.
B. All golfers must represent one of the member golf courses in our league. Golfers who are not attached to one of our member courses will not be allowed to play. If necessary, the club professional or its representative will verify its team roster.
C. Play will be 18-hole medal play as designated by the various clubs. Boys play from the men's tees and girls from the ladies' tees. (Championship tees are not used.) Golfers must walk 18 holes (pull carts are allowed). Every attempt will be made to have representation from the different clubs in each group. Foursomes will be used except when pairings cannot be made.
D. At time of initial registration for the league, players should be able to provide their handicap. If they do not have a handicap, they will then provide scores from their last five rounds of eighteen holes. A registration fee of $40.00 for one child in a family will be collected. Two children in the same family will be $65.00 and three or more will be $85.00. All golfers are expected to fill out a registration form for HVJTMS records.
E. Players will be divided into three divisions: Eagle division for golfers 16-17-18, Birdie division for golfers 13-14-15, and Par division for golfers 10,11,12. Golfers should not have handicaps higher than 36. More than 3 golfers from each club will be allowed to participate in any event, however, for team scoring purposes, only the top three scores in each division will be eligible to earn points for their team.
F. All golfers will pre-register for each event. The fee for each day of golf is $20.00 (lunch included). Registration with payment must be submitted for each event in which the golfer wishes to participate. Pairings are at the sole discretion of the HVJTMS Committee. In the event a match is cancelled due to weather, we will attempt to reschedule the event if possible. All matches will be played unless the course is closed by the individual golfing establishment. There are NO REFUNDS for any registered event.
G. Committee Members of the HVJTMS will be allowed course privileges. Each club is entitled to a maximum of two players, cart fees are the responsibility of these players. Transporting golfers to an event does not qualify for golfing privileges
H. Each playing site is requested to supply copies of local rules and have access to official USGA Rules of Golf.
I. Each course will pay a team entry fee of $40.00, payable to HVJTMS before July 1st.
Checks to be sent to: Mrs. Meg Monell, 121 Dogwood Lane, Newburgh, NY 12550.
J. All money collected will be accumulated and awards will be presented at the end-of-season Awards Banquet.
K. The HVJTMS Committee with the host club professional will decide the outcome of any cheating or misconduct at the event. If caught willfully cheating, the USGA rules will be used as a guide for disqualifying an individual from weekly competitions. Any serious breach of USGA rules will be considered by the host professional and HVJTMS Committee. All decisions will be final.
L. The host course will decide on the day of the golf if winter or summer rules will be in effect. All players will play under the same rules. In case of inclement weather, please call Meg Monell (561-7548) two hours before scheduled starting time.
M. A clinic for the HVJTMS may be held on the day of the Pro-Am. Anyone having played in the HVJTMS during the current season is welcome to attend.
N. Points will be awarded to individual players in each division according to their finishing position. Individual team players will add their points to gain a team total. The weekly totals will accumulate towards season totals. Points in each division will be awarded in the following manner: In each division, 10 points will be awarded to the player with the lowest score. This progression will continue until the 10th lowest score receives 1 point. In the event of ties, points will be added and divided by the number of players who are tied with the exception of a first place
tie. To determine the winner in each division a match of cards will be used starting with the 18th hole and going
backwards until one golfer has a lower score for a hole. If less than 10 players are in one division, the winners points will
start with the number of players in that division.O. Awards - Each golfer will accumulate points throughout the season (no more than three golfers from one team may earn points in each division). Golfers who disqualify themselves during a match will not be eligible for any awards for that tournament. Awards will be given out in age groups for the number of points accumulated. The winning team (those golfers who have participated in at least 6 matches) will receive team trophies. The winning team will also receive a plaque with previous winners names. This will be presented to their home club to be on display for one year. All engraving will be paid for by the HVJTMS. Good golf and good attendance is the key to top awards.
P. In respecting our host courses, appropriate attire is required at all times. This consists of shirts with collars, shirts tucked in at all times (use of belts as necessary), Bermuda length golf shorts or slacks. No denim, jeans, or cutoffs may be worn. Golfers inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to compete.
Q. Use of tobacco and alcohol products is prohibited. Inappropriate and/or offensive language and behavior will not be tolerated. Late arrivals and 'No Shows' will not be tolerated.
The HVJTMS would like to thank the professionals who are one of the main reasons we are able to have the HVJTMS. We are guests at each of the courses we play. We cannot emphasize strongly enough the importance of proper golf etiquette and proper conduct. Please leave the course in better shape then when you arrived!
